Our educational programs are based on developmentally appropriate practices as defined by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), which focus on the needs of the whole child. The Little Dolphin School is dedicated to enhancing young children's intellectual, social, emotional, physical and creative development. We do this in a warm, nurturing, enriched environment, as children all learn and develop differently. Our curriculum sparks all the senses, allowing self-esteem to soar.

Discipline practices at our school are based upon a philosophy of positive guidance. In our older classrooms, we help the children learn to work out their problems together rather than depend on the teacher; in younger classrooms we guide children to more appropriate choices through redirection. Children are taught to express themselves verbally and not physically. From the beginning of the school year, rules are clearly stated with the children actively participating in the setting of rules.

We are very careful in being consistent about acceptable behavior. Rewarding good behavior is our aim so that a child will realize that unacceptable behavior lacks fun. We always issue a warning and if a child refuses to comply, he/she may be isolated from the group (''break'') for a short period of time. Children are never humiliated and our staff prides itself on being appropriate role models in actions and words.

The Little Dolphin School offers undergraduates and High School Vocational childcare students supervised experience in the direct care and education of infants, toddlers, preschoolers and kindergarten age children. With the support of The Little Dolphin School's professional staff, these pre-service teachers build practical skills in child guidance, observation of child development, curriculum planning and implementation, as they are studying the relevant materials in their academic courses.
